      Four awesome women from our YMCA became friends through their love of running…Danielle Lumpkin, Jennifer Mauk, Tammy Roughneen and Jodi Snodgrass. During some of their runs with the YMCA running club, their conversation turned to training and participating in a triathlon. They chose the “My First Tri” triathlon at Eglin AFB for this endeavor. On Saturday, June 19, not only did they all participate, they all finished with medals. 

      Jodi was the first place overall female finisher. Danielle finished in first place in her age division. Both Tammy and Jennifer placed third in their age divisions. What a great accomplishment for these ladies!

      They all trained for the swim portion of the race in both the Y pool and Santa Rosa Sound; they ran together twice a week in the Y running club; but they trained individually for the bike portion. As members of our YMCA, these gals have inspired us all. We see them often in the Y, and it is so exciting to watch their accomplishments and see their fitness progress.

      As you can see from our other picture, these ladies are also inspiring their own youngsters to follow in their mothers’ footsteps as they participated in the Sunset Stampede on Navarre Beach. Fitness for this group is a family affair. As moms, as athletes, as members…these ladies are an inspiration…go girls!
