We are actively pursuing new branch development in both the Pace and Perdido areas in response to the explosive population growth in both of these communities, as well as the strong base of local support we are developing in both areas.

These new branches could range in size from 20,000 to 30,000 square feet and include a large outdoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, space for teen and senior activities, a fitness center and locker rooms. The artist's rendering above gives a general idea of what a full-family branch would look like.

Key YMCA programs such as after-school child care, summer day camp, swim lessons, water safety, teen leadership development, and adult health and fitness would be among those offered.

In both communities, we are working partner with local government, school districts, health care providers, and civic groups, and will depend on local leadership, as well as significant fundraising, to bring our vision to reality.

To join our Friends of Pace or Friends of Perdido mailing lists or to volunteer to support our development efforts, email Angela Fell in our administration office and provide your name, phone number and email address.

Here's an idea of what a new facility might look like:

PHOTO TOUR

Here's a sample floor plan of a full family YMCA, including space for adult fitness, youth programs, family activities, locker rooms and a pool.

Here's an actual aerial photo of the pool at our Pullum Family YMCA in Navarre - very similar to what we'd plan in Pace and Perdido.

Later construction phases might include an indoor pool, such as this one.

The fitness center would feature cardio and strength equipment, all in a bright, hi-tech atmosphere.

The gymnasium would provide space for sports, group exercise, youth programs and events.

Family programs would include ChildWatch, after-school child care and summer camp.

The branch would offer a wide range of group fitness options.

Popular classes such as indoor cycling would be part of the program offerings.

This space allocation chart gives an idea of how much square footage would be built for various areas. For an indoor pool, add about 7,000 square feet

This preliminary budget gives you an idea of the costs involved with designing and building a new facility.

We know that both of these communities need the programs and services that a YMCA can provide and are able to support a family branch. According to a recent community survey in Pace, for example:

l98% said Pace community needs a YMCA
l90% said they and their family would use a YMCA
l91% said the community could financially support construction of a new YMCA
l75% said they would be willing to help make the project a success

We need you! As members of these communities, you can help us ensure that new YMCA branches come to life in Pace and Perdido. Email Angela Fell today!
